![]() ![]() I just can’t get behind their lack of communication and customer service and how easily they’ll drop you when dealing with an issue. Not the coilovers fault.īut yeah, in the end after almost 2 years with these coilovers, I still really like them, they do great things in track and feel great for daily driving….but I wouldn’t buy them again. The metal sleeve inside the bushing had just barely enough play to clunk around. Turned out I needed to tighten the crap out of my rear upper strut mount. ![]() I ended up figuring out my clunk on my own. I couldn’t get ahold of them by email or by phone. I did experience a clunk from one of my rears when I first installed my coilovers and was going back and forth with Flatout for a while trying to figure it out until they just stopped responding. But I totally believe everything you say. If I went much lower in the front my tires would start hitting the spring perches, but as it is now I think I should be good to go.ĭang, no kidding, that really sucks. Overall, I am very happy with these Flatout ST coilovers so far, and I can not wait until my next trackday to give them a proper shakedown in the environment they were meant for! Big thanks to /u/FlatoutSuspensionInc for the awesome set of coilovers.Īlso just FYI, I was able to install these coilovers and run my 17x8 +40 wheels with no spacers. If I listen carefully and adjust slowly I can tell though, so really it’s just a minor inconvenience. If I had any gripes about the coilovers, they would be that I wish I could get the rears to go just a smidge lower (maybe up to 10mm lower?), and that the damping adjuster on one of my rears has really soft clicks, so it’s hard to tell where in the adjustment range it is. I’m in California so probably not a big deal here but it’s definitely nice to have. They honestly look and feel just as high quality as the KWs I was running, and even feature an electro-plated strut body to help keep them rust free. The welds look great, the materials all feel very high quality, and the manufacturing seems top notch. I’m not a welder or a manufacturing/materials engineer, but I can say that the build quality of these coilovers looks and feels pretty fantastic. Body motion on all the settings I’ve tried seems to be very well controlled, and turn in feels very sharp and precise (probably thanks to the linear rate front springs? The KWs use a progressive front spring). At about half stiffness (10/20 clicks), the Flatout STs feel about the same as my KW V1s, and I’ve mostly been daily driving on this setting since I installed them. On full stiff, the Flatout STs feel rock hard going over speed bumps, but at speed (going over that rough patch in the middle of a turn for example), the coilovers feel super aggressive but surprisingly absorb bumps and maintain control a lot better than I thought they would. On full soft the Flatout STs almost feel plush: very comfortable ride with total control. ![]() The Flatout STs feel even better thanks to the adjustability of the damping. The V1s also handled 2 trackdays really well despite not being full on track coilovers. The KWs felt totally planted over that same patch and felt like I actually had control over the car, even when running the stock runflat tires. The stock suspension felt way overdamped for that rough patch and it felt like the car was just skipping across the road. There is a high speed turn I take coming home from work every day that has a super rough patch right in the middle. The KWs always felt fantastic compared to the stock MCS suspension. These are more track-oriented coilovers since I’m planning on doing more trackdays next year, but Flatout does offer their SR coilover which is more of a street-oriented option. This is a quick comparison between the KW V1 coilovers I’ve been running for the past 3 years, and my shiny new Flatout Suspension ST coilovers I’ve been running for about a month. Just as good if not better than KW V1s at 10/20 clicks on the damper adjustment, but with the ability to go much stiffer or much softer. ![]()
